The Ohio Supreme Court (in a 4/3 decision) ruled than an 11 year old boy should not have been required to take a polygraph test as part of his probation. One of the reasons, the article states, is because "there have been no studies to support the use of lie-detector tests on learning disabled boys."Here's the link: http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061129/NEWS01/311290022 IP: Logged |

Barry C,I would have a problem with testing anyone who is only 11 years old. I think we may have even had a thread on this topic before. I have tested a 15 year old with success in the past but none that were any younger. Ted IP: Logged |

I didn't read the case, only the article, but it doesn't look like age was the issue, and this will likely affect anyone - including adults - who have a learning disability or any other condition that has not specifically been subjected to testing, which goes back to Ray's concerns stated elsewhere.IP: Logged |

That was the wrong case to argue. That county and their attorney should get the Don Quixote award (or the Duh! award). I agree this may not affect only juveniles. I have some thoughts on suitability for testing. http://www.raymondnelson.us/qc/suitability.swf r ------------------ "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here. This case does little for a state that already has very weak containment approaches to monitoring sex offenders. Ret Detective Brad Kelly, an Examiner and friend in Columbus Ohio has told me in the past that Ohio has no protocal or cohesive system for testing sex offenders and that the approach is very limited---someone needs to send Kim English over here.IP: Logged |
